Jaipur: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) has issued a\ncircular to automobile dealers making it mandatory for new vehicles including\ncars and bikes to be pre-fitted with \u2018High-security Registration plates\u2019. The\nregistration plates will then be converted to \u2018High-Security number plates\u2019 by\nthe vehicle manufacturer or dealer. Only after this process, the vehicle will\nbe sold to the customer, said officials. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The circular was issued on the instructions from the\nministry of road transport and highways. It has come into effect from April 1.\nThe high security number plates will be used for curbing the cases of vehicle\ntheft and ensuring uniformity of registration numbers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new rule has made it mandatory for all vehicles sold on\nor after April 1, 2019, to be pre-fitted with High-Security Registration\nPlates. The cost of the plates will be included in the price of the vehicle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The transport ministry issued orders on Monday directing all\nthe Regional transport offices to ensure implementation of the orders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the officials, the new initiative will also\nenable easier tracking of lost and stolen vehicles. The vehicle owners will no\nlonger be able to change the design of the number plates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The pre-fitted security number plates will be made of a rare\naluminum alloy and will contain a chromium-based hologram which will be\nhot-stamped on the top-left corner of both front and rear HSRPs. This stamp\nwill contain the Ashoka Chakra in blue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also, a 10-digit unique permanent identification number\n(PIN) will be laser-branded into the bottom-left corner of the plates which\nwill be fitted with a snap lock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A hot-stamping film will be applied on the letters and\nnumerals of the registration number and it will have ‘India’ inscribed on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The plates will have a standardized font and size. It will\nalso come with a 15-year warranty, which will include replacement in case of\nbreakage within the specified period.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
