Jaipur: In good news to wildlife lovers, two leopard cubs were spotted in Jhalana forest area at Jaipur near Chulgiri hills with their mother popularly knowns as Jara on Thursday. The two leopard cubs were playing on a hill when some wildlife activists spotted them and captured them on camera. They informed the forest authorities following which security arrangements were stepped up in the area.<\/p>\n
The cubs are believed to have been littered by Jara.<\/p>\n
The birth of two cubs will boost wildlife tourism at Jhalana Leopard Safari. The number of leopards at Jhalana has gone up\u00a0 to 29.<\/p>\n
According to the forest\u2019s officials, the leopardess Jara was spotted playing with her cubs at the hills of Chulgiri on Thursday. Jara is nine-year-old. The cubs are believed to be 2-3 months old.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, a leopardess named Flora also gave birth to two cubs.<\/p>\n
India\u2019s first ever \u2018Leopard Reserve\u2019 was inaugurated at Jhalana forest in Jaipur on the occasion of World Animal Day in October last year. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje inaugurated the Jhalana Leopard Reserve in Jaipur under the first ever \u2018Project Leopard\u2019 initiated by the state government.<\/p>\n
Jhalana had two safari tracks however a third track has recently been thrown open for tourists. This 7-km track will start from the main gate and pass through the shooting range. A major stretch of this track passes through two hills, which provides a breathtaking sight.<\/p>\n
