However, a large number of drivers go scot free as the RTO has failed to take any appropriate action against them. Of the 4674 seized license, suspension and cancellation penalty was imposed on only 1658 licenses in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statistics, the city\u2019s traffic police catches more than 70 drivers for drunken driving on a daily basis. Half of them are counselled and let off after a challan, while a recommendation for cancellation or suspension of the license is made in the remaining cases.<\/p>\n<p>Traffic cops seized 4420 licenses in 2017 and 4674 licenses in 2018 and sent them to RTO. Of them, the transport department cancelled 846 licenses in 2017 and 1658 licenses in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>A senior traffic department officer said that the traffic police is very strict about the rules, rash, and drunk driving cases. A lot of people are caught daily for rash driving incidents. The cops seize the driver\u2019s license and send them to the RTO.
