Jaipur: With the increasing air and noise pollution due to wildlife safari gypsies and canters at Rajasthan wildlife reserves including Ranthambore national park, Sariska tiger reserve and Jhalana park, Rajasthan\u2019s forest department has decided to launch electric vehicles for tourists.<\/p>\n
Maharashtra\u2019s Tadoba Tiger Reserve has already launched the country\u2019s first ever electric vehicle for wildlife safari. There will no noise and air pollution in the forest areas after these vehicles are introduced.<\/p>\n
According to the sources, Jhalana Wildlife Park and Ranthambore tiger reserve have already sent tenders related to the electric vehicles for the reserves.<\/p>\n
The growing amount of pollution in wildlife areas due to wildlife safaris and human intervention is not good for the health of animals and forests.<\/p>\n
The peaceful aura of forests gets affected by this. The noise caused by these vehicles disturbs wild animals in their natural habitat, a forest department officer said.<\/p>\n
Officials said that the electric vehicles launched at Tadoba are attracting a lot to tourists and they are liking the new concept.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe eVehicles will prove very useful at Jhalana in Rajasthan, as the animal species including tigers and panthers are very shy. They hide in the inner areas of forests when they hear noise generated by canters. The eVehicles will create zero disturbances for them and the tourists will be easily able to sight them at the safari,\u201d added the officer.<\/p>\n
The features of the eVehicle include 100km run capacity after one-time full charge and the boost function, if the vehicle gets stuck in the sand. It can accommodate six people excluding guide and the driver.<\/p>\n
Chief Wildlife Warden, GV Reddy said that the electric vehicles for safari will soon be launched at Jhalana forest. The tenders have been released for the Ranthambore tiger reserve also.<\/p>\n
The electric vehicle took several years to come in operation for safaris, as it was believed that the e-vehicles can only run on the plain surface and will not be able to run in forests.<\/p>\n
