Jaipur: The Rajasthan government\u2019s Dravyavati River project is likely to be inaugurated this month, according to Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) officials. The deadline for this project was September 10 but due to the heavy rains in the city over the past few weeks, the work couldn\u2019t be completed. JDA officials have now given the companies involved in the project the new deadline of September 20.<\/p>\n
Several deadlines have been missed. Earlier, the work was expected to be completed in August. JDA commissioner Vaibhav Galriya inspected the Dravyavati project construction site on Wednesday. He said that all efforts are being made to complete the work this month.<\/p>\n
Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje wants to inaugurate this project before the Model Code of Conduct comes into force.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe work is rapidly progressing in the areas from Sushilpura Bridge to Tonk Road. The construction work was affected due to the rains. But the work is now progressing fast and it will be completed by September 20,\u201d said Vaibhav Galriya.<\/p>\n
The inauguration of Dravyawati Riverfront is expected to be held at Shipra Path Park, which is being developed under the project. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje will inaugurate the project.<\/p>\n
According to JDA officials, some work undertaken under the project was washed away in heavy rains. Five Sewerage Treatment plant (STP) which were supposed to begin functioning by September 10 are not completed yet.<\/p>\n
Only the RIICO section\u2019s STP is ready. Officials said that the other sewerage plants will be completed within the next few days.<\/p>\n
Dravyavati River is one of its kind projects in the country as efforts are being made to restore a river from a \u201cdry and arid landscape\u201d. It will not only become an environmentally friendly tourist destination, but also prevent flooding.<\/p>\n
