Jaipur: The Model Code of Conduct for Rajasthan University (RU) election 2018 came into force on Wednesday. Student leaders and unions won\u2019t be allowed to do election campaigning through posters, banner and, rallies.<\/p>\n
The Rajasthan University administration issued the election notification despite Wednesday being an Eid holiday. The notification is issued 10 days prior to the elections as per the norms.<\/p>\n
There are around 10 lakh voters who will exercise their franchise on August 31 when the voting will take place in Rajasthan University.<\/p>\n
The university administration has warned that strict action will be taken in cases of violation of Lyngdoh Committee guidelines or the Model Code of Conduct.<\/p>\n
As per the guidelines, candidates will have to seek permission from the university or the concerned college before opening offices to run election campaigning related activities.<\/p>\n
The maximum age limit for fighting the election is 25 years old. Class representatives will also be elected along with the representatives of the university\u2019s apex body.First year students will be able to fight the election for the post of a class representative only.<\/p>\n
The elected president will have to inaugurate the office of student union body within a month of the election date. For fighting for the post of the president, a candidate has to be a postgraduate student or the final year student in a four-year course.<\/p>\n
