Jaipur: A day after some miscreants threw stones on a religious procession in Jaitaran town of Pali district, the local administration has imposed curfew in violence affected areas. Internet services were also snapped in Jaitaran, Pali and Sojat towns to prevent the spread of rumors on social media channels.<\/p>\n
At least 10 people participating in the religious procession on the occasion of Hanuman Jayati were injured in the stone pelting in Jaitaran on Saturday. The crowd retaliated and put on fire nearly 10 vehicles including a bus and some shops in the bus stand area, forcing the police to lathicharge the rioters. Six policemen including a police station in-charge were also injured.<\/p>\n
The police control the situation by the evening and imposed section 144 of CrPC, banning gathering of five or more people. The administration also imposed curfew in the violence-affected areas.<\/p>\n
\u201cSection 144 of CrPC will remain in Jaitaran till at least April 6. We have stopped internet services in not only Jaitaran, but also Pali, Nimaz and Sojat areas to prevent the spread of rumors. The situation is completely under control now,\u201d Pali district collector Sudhir Kumar Sharma said.<\/p>\n
Senior police officers said that the people involved in stone pelting have been identified and raids are being conducted to arrest them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
