Jaipur:<\/strong> A team of Uttar Pradesh police on Wednesday night allegedly shot to death a youth in Samrathpura area of Dholpur district in Rajasthan. The UP police team was chasing the members of a gang involved in stealing buffaloes from the neighboring state.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred in Saypura village around midnight. The police team nabbed an elderly man and attempted to take him with them. When the man started shouting for help, other family members rushed to his rescue. A constable of UP police opened fire. One man, identified as Rameshwar, sustained bullet injuries and died on the spot.<\/p>\n

The family members and villagers then ambushed the police team and started beating them up with sticks.<\/p>\n

When the policemen fired gunshots in the air, the villagers also retaliated. They opened fire. Six policemen are reported to have been injured in the clashes. They were admitted to a local hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n

It has come up during preliminary investigation that the UP police team didn\u2019t inform their local counterparts and tried to arrest the thieves without any back-up from Samrathpura police station.<\/p>\n

On hearing gunshots, some people informed the Samrathpura police following which a team from the local police station rushed to the spot.<\/p>\n

The incidents of police from other states trying to catch criminals without informing local police have caused law and order situations in Rajasthan in the recent past too.<\/p>\n

In October last year, a Telangana police team shot a man to death in Jalore district<\/a>. Jalore police had to register three cases against the Telangana police team members as protests erupted in the area.<\/p>\n

In another, a Chennai police inspector was shot dead in the firing by his own colleague<\/a> when they were confronting some robbers in Pali district.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
