The archeological department has taken this decision considering the popularity of other options available. <span data-term=\"goog_2007160145\">On Friday<\/span> the department issued a notice stating that the elephant safari will be stopped in the fort premises from <span data-term=\"goog_2007160147\">3.30 pm to 5.00 pm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Palace on Wheels train arrives in Jaipur <span data-term=\"goog_2007160148\">on Thursday every week. So t<\/span>he evening elephant safari will still be operational only on Thursdays. During the elephant safari, the electric vehicles will not be operated on account of security measures.<\/p>\n<p>Amer fort is also popularly known as the Amer Palace. It is situated on a forested hill that extends into Maota Lake near the town of Amer and situated near National Highway 11C to Delhi. A narrow 4WD road, known as the Suraj Pol, leads up to the entrance gate of the fort. Elephant rides are very popular here and are taken through the narrow Sun Gate. Amer fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was built in red sandstone and marble.
