JAIPUR: the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested the mastermind behind a call center scam that targeted foreigners. The accused, Rafiq Khan, was caught at Jaipur Airport while attempting to flee the country. The ED team had been tracking him down for a month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The scam involved opening call centers and recruiting young men and women who spoke good English. They would then make phone calls to foreigners, posing as representatives of a loan company, and offer them low-interest loans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Once the foreigners agreed to take the loan, the call center employees would demand a hefty amount of money as processing fee. The victims were then left with no choice but to pay up or risk losing their loan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ED received information about this scam from the Ministry of External Affairs, which had received complaints from foreign nationals who had fallen victim to it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
