JAIPUR: Senior Advocate of Rajasthan High Court, Rajendra Prasad Gupta, has been appointed as the new Advocate General of the state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Governor Kalraj Mishra has approved the proposal submitted by the state government following which. Gupta served as Additional Advocate General (AAG) during the Vasundhara government from 2014 to 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He has been practicing at the Jaipur Bench of the High Court since 1985 and is an academic member of the National Law University, Jodhpur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gupta’s appointment comes 49 days after the formation of the new government, following a petition filed in the High Court regarding the delay in appointing an Advocate General. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The High Court had criticized the delay and sought answers from the government. With Gupta’s appointment, additional Advocates General for advocacy in Rajasthan High Court and Supreme Court are yet to be appointed. Moreover, Public Prosecutors (PP) and APPs need to be appointed for advocacy in lower courts. Fresh appointments will be made on all these posts after a change of government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The news was met with joy in Gupta’s native village of Rid village of Parbatsar tehsil of Nagaur district, where he was born on June 4, 1962. After completing his schooling from there he took BCom degree in 1981 followed by LLB from Rajasthan University in 1985 and CA degree In 1986.
