JAIPUR: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) intercepted a youth hailing from Nagaur and took him into custody for attempting to smuggle 1 kg 166 grams of gold. The seizure took place when the accused man landed at Jaipur airport from a Dubai flight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The gold, with an estimated value of Rs 70 lakhs, was concealed in a tobacco box in possession of the passenger. He was arrested after an interrogation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man had gone to Dubai for work about three months ago and was returning to Rajasthan for the first time since his departure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the initial luggage check yielding no results, the DRI team persisted in their investigation. It was during the questioning that they noticed a tobacco box in his luggage, which the passenger claimed belonged to a friend. Upon suspicion, the box was examined, leading to the discovery of the concealed gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The arrested individual was presented before the court on Monday at 4 pm and subsequently sent to jail.
