JAIPUR: Union Minister Piyush Goyal, with a portfolio comprising Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and Textiles, engaged with students at Poornima University (PU), Jaipur this Sunday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Along with Jaipur Rural MP Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore and Jaipur MP Ramcharan Bohra, he listened to Prime Minister’s radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ at the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Welcoming the ministers were Shashikant Singhi, Chairman of Poornima University, Dr. M. Seth, and Dr. Suresh Chandra Padhy, President of Poornima University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Goyal, in his interaction with the students, appealed to both them and the university management to initiate projects like ‘Miyawaki Jungle’ and ‘Amrit Sarovar’ within the campus, with a focus on environmental preservation and water conservation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He drew attention to the Prime Minister’s call to create 75 ‘Amrit Sarovar’ in every district under the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ initiative. He encouraged the university to designate a space within or around the campus for the creation of an ‘Amrit Sarovar’, stating that it would bolster groundwater levels and augment greenery, thereby supporting sustainable development in the truest sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Highlighting the strength of the 11,000 students across the four campuses of Poornima Group, Goyal emphasized their potential contribution to society and the state. Rahul Singhi, Co-founder of PU, affirmed their commitment to these projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister Goyal advocated for the students to engage in these projects collaboratively, also promoting the practice of ‘Shramdaan’ (voluntary labour) and tree plantation within the campus. He emphasized the idea of ‘naming’ the planted tree, which symbolizes taking responsibility for its nurturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing the role of women in the country’s development, Goyal said that significant and rapid transformations could be witnessed when half of the country’s women contribute to the economy.
