JAIPUR: In the latest political face-off between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, the two leaders exchanged sharp criticism on the same platform. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gehlot urged Modi to hold the opposition in high regard, while the Prime Minister pointed to delayed development projects under Congress governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Modi criticized certain factions, accusing them of being adverse to national progress and preferring to fuel controversy instead. He argued that had more medical colleges have been established previously, the country wouldn’t be facing a doctor shortage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Gehlot reiterated his demand for the execution of the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP). He emphasized that regardless of the ruling government, the opposition’s role is essential and should be respected, asserting that a ruling party is incomplete without a robust opposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Modi was in Rajasthan for a day-long tour, which included a visit to the Lord Shrinathji shrine at Nathdwara and the initiation of a railway line project worth five thousand crore rupees. He stated that these initiatives will enhance Rajasthan’s connectivity significantly. The tour marks the commencement of the BJP’s election campaign in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The public meeting following the temple visit saw a brief disruption when Gehlot came on stage to address the crowd, as chants of ‘Modi-Modi’ filled the air. The Prime Minister motioned for calm, and BJP State President CP Joshi further pacified the crowd following Modi’s directive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Modi praised Rajasthan’s heritage and its contribution to India’s development. He emphasized the central government’s commitment to bolstering infrastructure in the state, which will improve connectivity, societal facilities, and digital services, thereby driving overall development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his speech, Gehlot highlighted Rajasthan’s vastness and the challenges of delivering public services across distant villages. He discussed ongoing infrastructural initiatives like road and highway construction and claimed that Rajasthan’s progress now surpasses Gujarat’s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gehlot also called for central arbitration on the ERCP, a sentiment he claims to have echoed before.
