JAIPUR: A 38-year-old assistant professor of Vivekananda Global University (VGU) in Jaipur took his own life late Thursday night, leaving behind a suicide note.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Soumyabrata Nath, originally from Silchar, Assam, was found dead in his room at the VGU boys’ hostel in the Ramnagariya area, where he had been living since joining the university in October 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A police officer said that Nath, who taught management, was found hanging in his room after hostel authorities grew concerned when he did not appear for work on Friday morning. Despite repeated attempts to contact him, there was no response, prompting a search that ultimately led to the tragic discovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon receiving the information, officers from Ramnagariya police station arrived at the scene and, after forcibly gaining entry to the room, collected evidence with the help of a forensic team. Nath’s body was subsequently removed from the noose and transferred to the mortuary at JNU Hospital for postmortem examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his suicide note, Nath revealed that his life had become unbearable due to mounting debts and his payments not being released by both his previous college and the university. He expressed deep remorse for his decision, writing, “I want to tell the family that you will forgive me. I could not spend much time with you all. Please forgive me. I am making very wrong decisions.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nath’s relatives had been informed of the tragic event and that the postmortem would be conducted only after their arrival.
