The state government has amended the bill pertaining to government universities to curb the practice of appointing IAS officers for the post when a vice-chancellor is removed or completes his tenure.<\/p>\n<p>When the post of a government university V-C goes vacant, V-C from another university will be appointed, as per the amendment.<\/p>\n<p>An IAS officer has been occupying the office of \u00a0Vice-Chancellor of Rajasthan University since January. The previous V-C JP Singhal resigned after Rajasthan high court had sought an explanation as to why <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinkcitypost.com\/minister-saraf-kicks-controversy-rajasthan-university-v-c-steps\/\">the office of the V-C<\/a> was being occupied by someone undeserving for the post. Then V-C JP Singhal resigned following the HC comments.<\/p>\n<p>The state government introduced a bill in the state assembly on Monday that allows lecturers of government colleges to apply for the post of V-C. Only professors of government universities can apply to the search committees for the post till now.<\/p>\n<p>The amendments will speed up the process of the appointment of a new V-C for Rajasthan University.<\/p>\n<p>The search committee to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinkcitypost.com\/rajasthan-university-get-new-vice-chancellor-may\/\">appoint the new V-C<\/a> was constituted in February, but after reports of the state government bringing some amendments in the law related to the appointment of VC, the committee slowed down its work.<\/p>\n<p>The search committee also now sought guidance from the governor office on the appointment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jaipur: IAS officers will not be given additional charge of vice chancellors in government universities in Rajasthan when the post goes vacant.
