JAIPUR: The city reported a huge tourist footfall on the first day of 2023. Over 33,000 people visited various tourist destinations including Hawa Mahal, Amer Mahal, Albert Hall, Jantar Mantar and Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tourism department collected a revenue of Rs 22 lakh in form of entry fees at these places.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDue to the Covid-19 pandemic, the tourism industry was negatively affected. But since the last week of December, a record number of tourists visited the city. We recorded a footfall of 3.8 lakh tourists in the last week of December,\u201d said a tourism department officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that the department collected a revenue of Rs 2.38 crore in eight days. Amer Fort and Hawa Mahal were the most popular tourist destinations with 9,406 people and 10,147 people visiting them respectively on Sunday. Nearly 7,400 people visited Albert Hall, 5871 Jantar Mantar and 622 people Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tourism experts said that the number of tourists was higher than the number recorded by the department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThese numbers are based on the revenue collected by the department, but the actual numbers are higher because thousands of people visited the places where entry is free. It\u2019s been a great start for the tourism industry in the city. The number of tourists broke records this year,\u201d said Guman Singh, a tourist guide. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The guides said the fact that it was Sunday helped increase the footfall.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTraffic jams were reported at several places across the Walled City and the roads leading to Jal Mahal and Amber Fort.
