Jaipur: A young woman who had gone to visit Pushkar was allegedly raped by a tourist guide in Ajmer town. The alleged incident took place on May 7, but the woman registered the FIR with Civil Lines police station in Ajmer on Thursday.
The woman accused the tourist guide of raping her at a hotel outside Ajmer bus stand and robbing her of Rs 18,000. The woman told the police that the accused threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident, so she kept mum for almost a month. She finally mustered courage and registered the FIR.
According to a police officer, the woman belonging to Jaipur had gone to Pushkar on May 7. She got in touch with a tourist guide identified by her as Jeevan Mali alias Jay. Jeevan took the woman on a tour of various tourist places in Pushkar. On the day she was to return to Jaipur, he took her to a hotel outside Ajmer bus stand and booked a room there. He allegedly raped her in the hotel room and robbed her of Rs 18,000. He left the victim there and escaped.
“As per the complaint, the guide threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the rape and robbery. We have registered the FIR and a medical examination has been conducted. A police team has also been formed to nab the accused man,” said a police officer.
