Jaipur: The Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested Gita Choudhary, sub inspector deputed at Mahila (Women) police station, east after she was allegedly caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 70,000.

The sub inspector (SI) Geeta Choudhary was demanding bribe from a man who had a case registered against him with the police station. She assured that she would help him weaken the case.

ACB, IG Sachin Mittal said that the complainant was one Madhav Rao.

“Madhav had a case under sections 323, 341 and 382 registered with Women Police Station (east). Gita Choudhary asked him to pay a bribe of Rs 1 lakh and assured him that she would help him in the case,” said Mittal.

He added that after the complainant approached the ACB, the complaint was verified. When it was found true, a trap was laid.

Gita had already taken Rs 10,000 from Madhav and when she was acceptin another installment of her bribe she was caught red-handed.

“She was Rs 70,000 when she was trapped. We have arrested him under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is going on,” said the officer.
