WhatsApp group admin booked in Jaipur for uploading obscene photographs, videos

Jaipur: An FIR has been registered with Pratap Nagar police station in Jaipur against a WhatsApp group admin who first added his wife in the group and then uploaded obscene photographs and videos. The wife objected to the objectionable material, but when it didn’t stop, she registered an FIR. The police officials said that the group admin has been summoned for questioning and an investigation has been launched.

According to the police, the case was registered by Somya Vishnoi (changed name), a resident of Haldighati Marg.

Her husband Mohan Vishnoi (changed name) started a company a few months ago. He created a WhatsApp group and added Somya as a member. Other members included company’s employees.

“As per the complaint registered with the police, people started uploading obscene photographs and videos. Somya raised an objection, but it didn’t stop,” said a police officer.

The officer said that the woman then registered a complaint with the police.

“The FIR has been registered under various sections of the IT Act. A cyber crime team of police commissionerate has launched an investigation,” said the officer.

The officials said that there were more than one admin for the group.

“We would interrogate Somya’s husband and others. They have been summoned for questioning,” said the officer.
