Ravi Vishnoi Selected for Indian T20 Squad
JAIPUR: Ravi Bishnoi, a young cricketer hailing from Jodhpur, has been selected for the Indian T20 squad for the upcoming tour of the West Indies. The new selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, announced Ravi Vishnoi’s inclusion as the leg-spinner.
Having made his international debut in 2022, Ravi will showcase his skills once again on the international stage. The T20 series, scheduled to commence on August 3, will witness India and the West Indies battling it out in a contest comprising five matches.
Sources suggest that the selection of young players for the West Indies tour may also be attributed to their potential inclusion in the World T20 cricket tournament set to be hosted in the West Indies next year, in 2024. This significant opportunity has brought immense excitement not only to Ravi but also to his family and coach.
In Jodhpur, Ravi lives in the Mahamandir area. Ravi expressed his delight at being selected. He told media persons, “I am very happy to have been selected. It feels great to make a comeback. I have been working hard in my preparation, and I aim to surpass my previous performance.”
Aware of the challenging pitches in the West Indies, Ravi acknowledged his familiarity with the conditions. He shared, “I am well acquainted with the West Indies pitches. Last year, we played five matches there—two in Florida and three in different stadiums across the West Indies. They provide a favorable playing surface.”
The young cricketer emphasized that the team would not underestimate the West Indies side, considering them as one of the strongest T20 teams. Ravi stressed the importance of formulating strategies for each player and emphasized the need to remain prepared despite the limited time for preparation.
Overjoyed by her son’s selection, Ravi’s mother, Sohna Devi, expressed her happiness. Ravi’s father, Mangilal, said that this momentous achievement came after a gap of 10 months, and he anticipates a remarkable performance from Ravi, ultimately leading the team to victory.
Ravi Bishnoi’s coach, Pradyot Singh, commended Ravi’s selection for the West Indies tour, acknowledging his hard work and determination. He mentioned, “Ravi’s return to the Indian team after a 10-month hiatus feels great. He has put in tremendous effort, and his relentless pursuit of improvement is evident.”
Another coach of Ravi, Shahrukh, added, “Ravi has diligently maintained his practice routine. We have focused on enhancing his spot bowling, and his progress has been remarkable. The entire coaching staff is delighted with his selection.”
To celebrate his inclusion in the Indian team for the West Indies tour, Ravi, accompanied by his coaches Pradyot Singh andShahrukh, as well as his family members Sohna Devi, Mangilal, and sister Anita, visited the Ganesh temple at Ratanada in Jodhpur.
Previously, during the Asia Cup, Ravi exhibited an impressive performance against Pakistan in Dubai. In his very first over, he dismissed Pakistan captain Babar Azam, earning accolades from former fast bowler Irfan Pathan.
The West Indies series, scheduled from August 3 to Auguest 13, will feature three matches in West Indies and two matches in the United States.
