Water connections in Jaipur to be linked with Aadhaar card

Jaipur: Aadhaar Card and Bhamashah Card have been made mandatory for getting a new water connection in Jaipur and the rest of the state. Not only that, the existing water connections in the city will be linked with Aadhaar number of the consumers. PHED principal secretary Rajat Mishra has issued an order to this effect.

There are more than 4 lakh water connections in Jaipur.

“New water connections were being provided on the basis of domicile certificates and other such documents. After conducting a feasibility inspection, the application for a new connection is approved. But the problem is that many households have more than one water connections. In order to deal with this problem, we have decided to link water connections with Aadhaar Card and Bhamashah card,” said a senior PHED officer.

He said that the department would be able to monitor the number of water connection for each household in the city.
