Jaipur: The demarcation of wards for two newly formed municipal corporations in Jaipur has been completed. There were 91 wards under the Jaipur Municipal Corporation. They have been divided into 250 wards for the Greater Jaipur Municipal Corporation and Heritage Jaipur Municipal Corporation. The JMC has invited objections on the demarcations. They can be submitted to JMC headquarters and zonal offices.

The wards have been demarcated based on the population, instead of the area. The smallest ward in terms of population is Ward No – 55 which falls under the Greater Municipal Corporation. It has a population of 8491 people, while the biggest ward is Ward Number – 10 in Heritage Municipal Corporation. It has a population of 16541.

The Heritage Municipal Corporation covers the area between Jaigarh and Jamdoli, while Greater Municipal Corporation covers the area between Neendad and Gandhi Circle.

“The maps of both the municipal corporations have been made public. The people can submit objections by December 20,” said a senior JMC officer.

The Heritage Municipal Corporation covers the old city areas.

JMC administrator Vijaypal Singh said that the demarcation process was completed by Saturday night and the maps were made public on Sunday.
