Jaipur: The voting for the post of councillors in 150 wards of Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation will be held in the city on Sunday. Nearly 12 lakh voters will exercise their franchise and elect the public representatives for their respective wards. As many as 686 candidates are in the fray. The voting will begin at 7 am and will continue till 5.30 pm.
The state election commission has made elaborate arrangements for the polls. The polling parties were deputed on Saturday. The officials and employees involved in the election process were provided training.
There are 2048 polling booths at difference places in the Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation area. The highest number of wards are in Sanganer assembly constituency. The polling in the constituency will be held at 294 booths. The highest number of voters are in Vidhyadhar Nagar constituency. As many as 3.31 lakh voters will exercise their franchise.
Those who have lost their voter ID cards can also be able to vote by showing any of the 12 alternative ID documents including Aadhar card, passport, driving license and pan card.
Senior officials said the booth officials have been asked to ensure that the voters follow social distance and other COVID-19 guidelines.
