Voting for 100 wards of Jaipur Heritage Municipal Corporation tomorrow

Jaipur: The voting for 100 wards of Jaipur Heritage Municipal Corporation will take place tomorrow. The voting will begin at 7 am and continue till 5 pm. The voting parties at booths were deployed on Wednesday. The police have also made elaborate security arrangements. Liquor shops were closed in the city on Wednesday.

There will be 1581 polling booths for 100 wards of Jaipur Heritage Municipal Corporation. About 9.5 lakh voters will exercise their franchise. The largest number of polling booths – 424 to be precise – have been set up in Civil Lines assembly constituency. There are 141 candidates in the fray for 24 wards of the constituency.

On Wednesday, the polling parties left for polling booths from Bhawani Niketan College on Sikar Road. District election officer Antar Singh Nehra was present on this occasion. The polling parties were provided gloves, sanitizers and masks and were asked to ensure that the voters follow COVID-19 guidelines.

The EVM machines will be kept at Commerce College on JLN Marg after the voting.  

The state election commission had announced the dates for the election to six municipal corporations in Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota. The elections for the post of councillors will be organized on October 29 and November 1. The counting of votes will be held on November 3 and the elections for the post of Mayor will be held on November 10.
