Voting at Rajasthan High Court Jaipur polling booth cancelled amid irregularities in Bar Council elections

Jaipur: The Bar Council election committee has cancelled the voting held at the Rajasthan High Court Jaipur polling booth following alleged irregularities reported during the polling process. The decision applies only to the Jaipur High Court booth and not to polling conducted at other centres.

According to the committee, several lapses were observed inside the polling centre during the voting. Allegations include indiscipline on the premises and candidates openly canvassing for votes within the booth, which raised questions over the transparency of the process.

Taking note of these circumstances, the election committee decided to scrap the voting conducted specifically at the Jaipur High Court booth.

The move has drawn sharp criticism from advocates who described the cancellation as a major procedural failure. Advocates alleged several senior members of the bar had stood in queue for a long time to cast their votes, only to learn later that the polling had been cancelled, calling the outcome deeply disappointing.

They said incidents of this nature affect the democratic rights of advocates and the credibility of the election process. Warning against repeated cancellations, he cautioned that continued lapses could erode confidence in the entire system.

With the polling now set aside, questions have emerged over when the re-vote at the Jaipur High Court booth will be held and what arrangements will be put in place to prevent a recurrence. Advocates have called for stricter measures to ensure greater transparency and better management during the next round of voting.
