Jaipur: Planning a visit to Rajasthan’s iconic forts, palaces and museums in the new year will require a bigger travel budget. After nearly a decade, the Rajasthan government has revised entry ticket prices for monuments and tourism sites under its control, with the new rates set to come into force from January 1, 2026.
The increase applies to major attractions across Jaipur and other districts, including forts, museums and art galleries managed by the state’s Department of Archaeology and Museums. Officials say the revision reflects rising maintenance costs and improved visitor facilities at heritage sites.
Amber Fort Sees Sharpest Hike
One of the most visited monuments in the state, Amber Fort in Jaipur, will now have significantly higher entry fees. Indian visitors will be charged Rs. 200 per ticket, double the earlier rate. Foreign tourists, who earlier paid Rs. 300, will now have to pay Rs. 1,000 for entry.
Tourism officials say Amber Fort requires substantial conservation and crowd management efforts due to high footfall, especially during peak tourist seasons.
Higher Fees Across Jaipur’s Landmark Sites
Several other popular Jaipur monuments will also see revised rates. At Albert Hall Museum, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar and Nahargarh Fort, Indian tourists will now pay Rs. 100 per ticket, while foreign visitors will be charged Rs. 600.
The revised pricing structure has been finalised after months of internal review and has already been notified through official orders published in the Rajasthan Gazette.
When the New Rates Apply
The revised ticket prices will be effective from January 1, 2026, and will apply uniformly across all monuments and tourism sites under the state government. Department officials have confirmed that instructions have been sent to all concerned monument authorities to implement the changes from the new year.
According to the Department of Archaeology and Museums, ticket prices at many sites have been increased by nearly double, marking the first major revision since 2015.
The new rates will also apply to protected monuments and galleries across other districts. These include heritage sites in Alwar, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Nagaur, Tonk and Sirohi, as well as selected forts, chhatris and art galleries maintained by the department.
Officials say the uniform pricing policy is aimed at streamlining ticketing and improving upkeep at lesser-known monuments that often struggle with limited funding.
Museum entry fees are also being revised. In Jaipur district and other government-run museums, Indian visitors will now pay Rs. 30 instead of the earlier Rs. 20. The department says the marginal increase is intended to support better exhibits and visitor services.
One Ticket to See It All
Along with higher individual entry fees, the government has introduced a consolidated ticket option for tourists who plan to explore multiple sites. Under this scheme, Indian tourists can purchase a single ticket for Rs. 1,300, while foreign tourists can opt for a Rs. 5,500 pass.
This combined ticket allows entry to all department-controlled monuments, museums and art galleries across Rajasthan for a period of ten days, offering frequent travellers a cost-effective alternative.
While officials insist the revised rates are necessary for conservation and improved infrastructure, the sudden hike has sparked discussion among local tourists, tour guides and travel operators. Many believe the consolidated ticket could benefit serious travellers, but worry that higher single-entry prices may discourage casual or budget visitors.
