Accident at JDA Circle again; Luxury car hits man on scooty

Jaipur: An over-speeding luxury car was caught on CCTV hitting a scooty driver around 6 am at JDA Circle on JLN Marg in the city. The footages show the collision was so intense that it sent the two-wheelers almost 5 feet into the air. The scooty driver, identified as Abhay Daga, was seriously injured. He is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU of SMS Hospital. His condition is stated to be critical.

This is the second mishap due to overspeeding on JLN Marg in the last three days. On July 16, two siblings were killed when an overspeeding car rammed into their bike at JDA Circle.

According to the police, the mishap occurred around 6 am. The traffic lights were not operational at that time. The footages show the scooty driving towards JDA circle. An Audi suddenly appears. It was overspeeding. It hits the scooty driver and then disappears.

The police have identified the car driver as Vikas Sharma, a resident of Sirsi Road. He was under the influence of alcohol, according to preliminary reports.

After hitting the scooty with his car, Vikas rushed Abhay trauma centre of SMS Hospital for treatment in an auto. The victim’s family members also rushed to the trauma centre on getting the information about the mishap.

Abhay is struggling for life and his condition is very critical, the doctors said. He was being operated upon till the reports last came in.

The police officials have registered a case against the car driver and said that further investigation is going on.

Despite the tall claims of the city traffic department about making JLN Marg an Adarsh Road, the frequent accidents have exposed unchecked traffic norms violations and over-speeding.

On July 16 incident also, the cause of the accident was overspeeding. Two brothers – Puneet Parasar and Vivek Parasar were killed while four others were injured in the road accident. The police caught the driver, but he was released on bail within 20 hours of arrest.
