Unemployment allowance in Rajasthan increased to Rs 3500 for women and Rs 3000 for men: CM Gehlot

According to the changes in the unemployment allowance, the increase will be applicable from February 1 and the payment will be made from March 1.

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced to increase the unemployment allowance for educated youth. The new unemployment allowance will be five times more than what beneficiaries used to get. This will benefit around one lakh unemployed youth in the state. However, there are 11 lakh registered unemployed young people in Rajasthan.

CM Ashok Gehlot made the announcement about the unemployment allowance at the inauguration ceremony of student union office in Rajasthan University on Thursday.

According to the changes in the unemployment allowance, the increase will be applicable from February 1 and the payment will be made from March 1.

A total of Rs 524 crore will be spent every year following the increase in unemployment allowance.

The Congress in their election manifesto promised to increase unemployment allowance to Rs 3500.

According to the Rajasthan Unemployment Allowance Scheme, 2012, the undergraduate unemployed men with the annual family income up to Rs 2 Lakh will get an allowance of Rs 3000.

Unemployment allowance for women and specially qualified unemployed people will be Rs 3500 per month.

Currently, around 70,000 unemployed young people are getting benefits from this scheme. Unemployed men are getting the allowance of Rs 650 per month and women along with specially qualified people are getting Rs 750 per month.
