Jaipur: An underground parking will be built at Purana (Old) Aatish Market in the Walled City to ease the parking problem. The parking will be able to accommodate 400 vehicles including 250 four-wheelers. The parking space is being developed in the highly congested area under the Smart City Project, officials said.

“The parking will be three-storey – two of which will be underground. The project is being funded under the Smart City Project, so there will be no expense from the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC). The JMC will be responsible for the development of the parking space. The decision to develop the parking project had been taken a few months ago, but we will now begin the tender process,” said a JMC officer.

The project is estimated to cost about Rs 15 crore. “A technical bid will be issued on April 16 and once the financial tender process is completed the firm responsible to develop the project will have to complete it within 2 years,” said the officer.

Parking is a major issue in the Walled City. The officials said that the parking at New Aatish Market will help ease the pressure.

“The new parking space will accommodate 250 four-wheelers and 150 two-wheelers. The Detailed project report (DPR) has already been prepared and tenders have been issued,” said the officer.
