Udaipur crowned world’s fourth most romantic city

JAIPUR: For the second time in 21 months, the popular destination wedding city of Udaipur has been named the Most Romantic City in India. Travel website Planet D has now ranked the city fourth among 17 romantic cities globally. Udaipur is the only Indian city to feature in the list, which is topped by Paris, France, followed by Venice, Italy and Hangzhou, China.
Udaipur is known for its stunning lakes, mountains, and heritage, as well as its hospitality and diverse culture. Millions of tourists from around the world visit the city each year. In July 2021, Udaipur ranked fourth on Planet D’s list of “The 16 Most Romantic Cities on Earth.”
The recognition has boosted the local tourism industry, with hopes of attracting even more international visitors following the recovery of domestic tourism after the pandemic. The list also features two cities each from Italy, the United States, and Canada.
Udaipur’s romantic appeal is highlighted by the travel portal, which notes the city’s picturesque location, majestic palaces, temples, ghats, and havelis. The bloggers also share their experience of dining on a jharokha (balcony) overlooking the lake, describing it as “the most romantic” experience.
In addition to this recognition, Udaipur was included in International Business Magazine’s list of 23 best places in the world to visit in 2023 on April 20. On April 4, travel portal Travel Triangle named Udaipur’s Fatehsagar and Lake Pichola as two of the top seven destinations to visit in Rajasthan in May.
