Jaipur: The manager of Rajasthan State Roadways Transport Cooperation (RSRTC) in Udaipur, identified as Chandraprakash Kacharia went missing after a booking clerk – Heeralal Lohar – after they were caught taking bribe on his behalf by Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Saturday. The manager had allegedly demanded bribe from a man for not shifting a shop to another place at Rajasthan Roadways bus stand in Udaipur. The clerk accepted the bribe on behalf of the manager, the ACB officials said.

One Rohit alias Akesh Menaria – had registered a complaint with ACB against Chandraprakash. He said that a shop was allotted to his wife at Udaipur bus stand. The depot administration recently sent a notice to her that the shop would be shifted to another place. When Rohit approached the bus stand manager Chandraprakash, the latter demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000, the ACB officials said. The manager assured the ACB complainant that the shop would not be shifted if he paid the bribe.

After Rohit registered a complaint, the ACB laid a trap. The manager agreed to lower the bribe amount to Rs 8600 after negotiations. Booking clerk Heeralal took Rs 3000 at the time of verification. The remaining amount was to be paid on Saturday.

The ACB caught Heeralal red-handed taking the bribe of Rs 5600. Heeralal was arrested, but Chandrapakash managed to escape. An FIR under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against them. The ACB has launched a search for the manager who is on the run, the officials said.
