Jaipur: Two buildings razed down near airport, others to be issued notices

Jaipur: Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) brought down 2 illegally constructed buildings in Zone-4 near the airport (Terminal-2) on Friday. One of these was the showroom of National Handloom. JDA’s Enforcement Wing ASP Rajendra Singh and Deputy SP Seema Bharti along with others were present at the site during the demolition act. JDA is also preparing to issue notices to other buildings in the vicinity that have not been built without getting the required permission.
Some parts of the Siddhartha Nagar Yojana on the Airport Road are unapproved. Due to court cases and disputes, JDA hadn’t given permission for construction on this land however many multistorey buildings have come up here. The two buildings that were demolished on Friday were built almost 12 years ago. Manoj Meena Subhash Chandra, a junior engineer of Zone 13 who has the expertise for this work, was also present along with other officials.
About three months ago, JDA had taken similar action in the area, however, had only brought down a wall of a building. This time too, JDA’s team waited for instructions from senior officers until Thursday afternoon. After getting the order, the action was initiated and by Friday afternoon both buildings were converted into debris. JDA will recover the cost of breaking these buildings from the building owners.
There are several other multi-storeyed buildings in the area hence questions will be raised about JDA’s action against only 2 buildings. JDA has also decided to issue notices to the 5 other building owners and sought a report on other buildings from the Zone office. It remains to be seen when the authorities will take similar action against other such illegally constructed buildings.
