Triton Mall acid attack accused arrested after being discharged from hospital

Jaipur: Mahboob Khan who allegedly threw acid on a married woman inside Triton Mall on the Valentine’s Day was arrested on Tuesday as soon as he was discharged from the hospital. The man was still wearing surgical dressing on his hands.
Mahboob, a native of Patan area in Sikar district, is an auto driver. He had divorced two women and was pressuring the acid attack victim to marry him. When she turned down his proposal, he turned up at his workplace in Triton Mall and threw acid on her on the Valentine’s Day on February 14. He had also sustained burn injuries as drops of acid fell on his hands. He was produced in a court on Tuesday. The police said that they would also book the shopkeeper who sold acid to him.
The victim had told media persons that Mahboob Khan had been harassing and blackmailing the woman for past three years.
The victim said that her ordeal began the day she responded to a missed call on her mobile phone.
“I started speaking to Mahboob Khan occasionally. I never gave it much thought. He lived in Shashtri Nagar, but shifted to my neighborhood. He rented a room near my house. One time I went to a park with him and the blackmailing started. He clicked some photographs,” said the woman.
She added that Mahboob threatened to upload the photos on social media channels. He said that the photos would go viral.
