Tourists suffer as Mount Abu bandh continues

Jaipur: Mount Abu remained closed for the third consecutive day on Friday as part of a bandh called by Abu Sangharsh Samiti in support of its demand for approving building bylaws in the town. The organizations supporting the bandh warned that the town would remain closed until their demands were met.

The tourists coming to the town are facing several problems.
“I am doing rounds of the market looking for snacks, but everything is closed. I have been in Mount Abu for the past three days. I will have to leave now if the markets don’t open,” said Rahul Makkar, a resident of Gurugram.
The organizations supporting the bandh are demanding that the building bylaws be approved immediately. The local municipal authorities are trying to placate the agitating traders and residents that the approval process is in the final stage and it is taking time because Mount Abu falls under Eco Sensitive Zone. The Gazette notification will be issued soon, the officials said.
