Toll-free number for assistance to prevent Zika spread launched in Rajasthan

The health department launched its toll-free helpline number 1800-180-6127 for medical consultation and safety measures related information for the Zika virus disease on Wednesday. The helpline number will remain functional from 8 am to 8 pm daily.

Jaipur: The medical and health department of Rajasthan has launched toll-free helpline number 1800-180-6127 where people can get all the information and assistance related to the Zika virus disease.

More than 15000 students of the 450 schools took an oath to take precautions against the virus infected diseases. They took an oath to keep their homes and surroundings clean.

The department launched its toll-free helpline number 1800-180-6127 for medical consultation and safety-related information for the Zika virus disease on Wednesday. The helpline will remain functional from 8 am to 8 pm daily.

Doctors and other medical professionals will be interacting with people through the helpline number. All the information including safety measures, medical examinations, and the cause of the virus will be shared.

Larvae destroying activities and fogging have been going on in the colonies for the past one month in the state. The total number of patients reached 135 in Rajasthan, until now.

Most of the Zika cases were detected in Shashtri Nagar and Sindhi Nagar area of Jaipur.

Zika is spread mostly by the bite of an infected Aedes species mosquito. These mosquitoes bite during the day and night. Zika can be passed from a pregnant woman to her fetus. Infection during pregnancy can cause certain birth defects including neurological disorder and Brain Damage. There is no vaccine or medicine for Zika.

Chief secretary DB Gupta directed CMHOs not to allow doctors and medical officials to go on leaves in affected areas.
