Three universities in Rajasthan to get vice chancellor this week

Jaipur: Vice chancellors will be appointed for three universities in Rajasthan this week. These include MDS University in Ajmer, Rajasthan University in Jaipur and Govind Guru Tribal University in Banswara.

MDS University will get an acting VC. Instead of giving the charge to an IAS officer, the VC from another university will be given the additional charge for MDS.

The panel of likely candidates for the posts of VC in these university has already been prepared by search committees. The names will be forwarded to the Governor office. Rajasthan government Kalyan Singh will finalize the names.

The names were to be announced last month, but due to developments like Anandpal encounter and appointment of a new chief secretary, it got delayed. Governor Kalyan Singh was also in Delhi.

Senior IAS officer Rajeshwar Singh is currently occupying the office of VC as an additional charge for the past six months.

The search committee had sought applications from eligible candidates in May. The last date for applying for the post of Rajasthan University Vice Chancellor was May 22.

After conducting interviews, the search committee prepared a list of five candidates and sent it to the state governor office for approval.
