Tension in Banswara after murder of Anjuman Islamia Sadar

Jaipur: Sadar of Anjuman Islamia, Sohrab Khan Pathan, was shot dead by unidentified people in Banswara’s Rajtalab area on Saturday night.

Sohrab was rushed to a hospital after the incident where doctors declared him brought dead. Senior police officers camped in the town and some suspects were rounded up. The police suspect that an old rivalry may be the motive behind the murder.

More than three unidentified men opened fire on Sohrab on Saturday night. Police officials said that the victim’s brother, Abulala, had been murdered in a similar manner in 2014. The name of Siraj Khan had come up in the murder.

“A few people have been rounded up for questioning. Further investigation is going on,” said sources.

The district administration banned gathering of five or more people suspecting that the incident could trigger tension in the town.
