Swachh Survekshan 2019: Jaipur now 44th cleanest city in country; rank slides by 5 positions

According to the reports, Jaipur city got 3366 marks out of 5000 for its cleanliness and was ranked 44th while Dungarpur city scored 3787 marks in the Swachh Survekshan 2019 and bagged 7th position.

Jaipur: Jaipur ranked 44th in the Swachh Survekshan 2019 in the category of the cities having more than one lakh population while the Dungarpur town of the state bagged the seventh position in the category of the cities having less than one lakh population.

The Swachh Survekshan reports and awards were released at an event in New Delhi on Wednesday by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The award ceremony was conferred by President Ram Nath Kovind. Union Housing Minister Hardeep Singh Puri was also present.

According to the reports, Jaipur city got 3366 marks out of 5000 for its cleanliness and was ranked 44th while Dungarpur city scored 3787 marks in the Swachh Survekshan 2019 and bagged 7th position.

The ranking of Jaipur has come down by 5 points as compared to the cleanliness report of 2018. The city secured 39th position in Swachh Survekshan 2018 and was awarded for ‘fastest mover state capital’ in the country.

Dungarpur was ranked the cleanest city among the 4261 civic bodies across the country based on the reports of Citizen Feedback, ODF, Solid and Wet Waste Disposal and Public Transport. But it did not perform well in Swachh Survekshan 2019 and ranked the seventh cleanest city in the country in its category.

No other city of Rajasthan except Jaipur and Dungarpur appeared in the list of top 100 clean cities of India in both the categories of Swachh Survekshan 2019 reports.

Indore city bagged the top position third time in the row and Bhopal has been awarded the cleanest capital in the country.

The Swachh Survekshan is world’s largest cleanliness survey. The survey of 2019 involved 4237 cities and over 6.53 lakh survey locations in which 64 lakh people provided their feedback.
