Suspended ASP Divya Mittal arrested again a day after getting bail

JAIPUR: Divya Mittal, the suspended ASP accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 2 crore, has been arrested again by the Special Operations Group (SOG) outside Ajmer jail on Saturday, just a day after being granted bail.
According to SOG officials, Mittal did not conduct a proper probe in three cases of the NDPS Act that she was investigating. As a result, she has been arrested again and SOG officials will inquire into the matter.
Officials said that there have been no individual complaints registered against Mittal in SOG so far. Mittal was investigating three files of NDPS for a long time, but mistakes in the investigation have come to light, leading to her being accused under the NDPS Act.
Mittal was arrested on January 16 by the Jaipur ACB team in Ajmer for demanding a bribe of Rs 2 crore. She had sought the bribe through sacked policeman Sumit Kumar in exchange for not arresting the owner of a Haridwar-based pharma company in a drug smuggling case. She was granted bail on Friday by the High Court on a surety of Rs 1 lakh. Mittal had spent 100 days in jail after being caught by the ACB.
