Student union polls in Rajasthan: Ballot boxes to be kept in police custody for 7 days

Jaipur: Ballot boxes will be kept in police stations or under police protection from August 28 to September 4.
While the voting will take place in all universities except those Udaipur division on August 28, the counting of votes will take place on September 4. In order to thwart any attempt for rigging, the higher education department has issued instructions to keep the ballot boxes in police protection till the counting of votes.
The counting of votes will take place from 10 am on September 4.
The police will be deputed to protect the ballot boxes in universities, while ballot boxes of government colleges situated in remote areas will be kept in police stations.
Student union elections were postponed in Udaipur division. The voting will take place on September 4. The decision was taken keeping in view Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Udaipur on August 29. The election schedule in the rest of the state will remain unchanged, except for the date of counting of votes which will now happen on September 4.
