Student union elections in Rajasthan: ABVP wins 5 universities
Big setback for NSUI as it had to be content with only two universities. Rebels won two including Rajasthan University in Jaipur.

Jaipur: Akhil Bharatiya Vidharthi Parishad (ABVP) won the presidential posts at five universities in Rajasthan student union election 2017. Rebels bagged two universities including Rajasthan University in Jaipur, while NSUI had to be content with only two.
Here is the list of all winners on the presidential post:
- Rajasthan University, Jaipur: Pawan Yadav (Independent). He defeated Sanjay Machedi of ABVP by a margin of 2656 votes and NSUI candidate Deepak Meena by a margin of 2552 votes. Yadav got 5359 votes which were more than what the combined votes received by AVBP and NSUI candidates. He defeated
- Mohanlal Sukhadia (MLS) University, Udaipur: Bhawani Shankar (ABVP). He won by a margin of 167 votes. He got 3278 votes, while Ronak of NSUI got 3111 votes.
- Jai Narain Vyas University (JNVU), Jodhpur: Kanta Gwala (NSUI). She won by a margin of 2458 votes. Kanta scripted history by being elected as the first woman president of JNVU. Kanta got 4911 votes. She defeated Rajendra of ABVP. Her total vote count was more than the combined votes of other candidates.
- MDS University, Ajmer: Manish Poonia (independent). He won by a margin of 213 votes. He defeated Chainaram of ABVP by a margin of 213 votes.
- Kota University, Kota: Pinkesh Meena (ABVP). He won by a margin of 114 votes.
- Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner: Jaiveer Singh (ABVP). He defeated independent candidate Prafulla Hatila by a margin of 51 votes. The independent candidate had the backing of ABVP and NSUI. Jaiveer Singh got 255 votes, while Hatila got 204 votes.
- Jagatguru Ramanandacharya Sankrit University, Jaipur: Anurag Sharma (ABVP)
- Keshvananad Rajasthan Agriculture University, Bikaner: An ABVP candidate, Ashok Meena, elected unopposed.
- Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur: Maniram Choudhary (NSUI). He defeated Pooja of ABVP by a margin of 396 votes.
ABVP emerged victirious on the presidential post at 63 colleges, NSUI at 23, independents at 30 and others at 11.
