Jaipur: Rajasthan Ambulance Employees Union has announced to stage a protest from February 21 in Rajasthan, if their demands are not met by the state government. The services of integrated ambulance 108 and 104 will remain closed during the strike with over 6000 ambulance employees going on strike from Thursday.

Around 1500 ambulance will not operate. Of them, 730 ambulances are associated with 108 service and 580 with 104 service. Over 200 others are general ambulance.

According to the Ambulance employee’s union state president Virendra Singh Shekhawat, the demands were presented before the state government and the respective firm a long time ago but no positive steps have been taken so far.

A similar strike was observed in the state earlier but the government promised to implement the demands but nothing happened. The employee’s union has no other option than going on strike again, added members of the union.

According to the demands of ambulance employees, the contractual practice should be eliminated. The equal pay scale laws should be applied and the duties of all the ambulance employees should be fixed for 8 hours. Also, compensation of Rs 20 lakh should be given to the employee if any kind of accident/death happens during the duty.

The medical services in the state will be largely affected due to the ambulance strike, said officials.
