Jaipur: Diwali is round the corner. As usual, the Jaipur district administration has issued a warning that a strict action will be taken against those bursting firecrackers from 10pm to 8 am on Diwali. The use of firecrackers will also be prohibited in silence zones.

In addition to these directions for Diwali, the district administration has also made mandatory for people to obtain permission for the use of firecrackers at wedding and other occasions. Only green crackers which don’t pollute environment will be allowed on these occasions.

District collector Jagroop Singh Yadav issued the directions in this regard and said that the steps are being taken in compliance with the Supreme Court guidelines and also to ensure that the city doesn’t suffer from pollution.

“Highly polluting and sound amplifying fireworks should not be used at public places. For the use of fire crackers during wedding and other occasions, the concerned person should obtain permission from the concerned Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) or Deputy Commissioner of Police. If any organisation or person is found violating this order, appropriate legal action will be taken,” said the district collector.

Yadav said that As per a 2015 SC judgement, the use of firecrackers is prohibited from 10 pm to 6 am. The Ministry of Environment and Forests also issued a notificiation in 2010 under noise pollution (regulation and control) Rule banning sound emitting firecrackers in quiet area or night time.
