Jaipur: In a move aimed at making property transactions more convenient for residents, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has begun the process of taking its entire lease (patta) system online. Once implemented, applicants will no longer need to visit the JDA office in person to obtain property leases.

Under the new system, applicants will also be able to pay the required stamp duty directly at the sub-registrar’s office at the time of registration, once the patta has been issued. The shift is expected to simplify and speed up procedures for property owners.

JDA Commissioner Anandhi has directed officials to ensure the smooth rollout of the e-patta process. In a meeting held on Wednesday to review IT services and the digital lease system, she instructed the Deputy Commissioner (Settlement Management) to prepare a detailed guideline for applicants on submitting stamp duty and collecting their pattas. She also emphasized the need to include earlier documents related to the property along with the newly issued e-patta to improve transparency.

Lease officers have been asked to insert specific legal clauses into the lease drafts to align with the digital transition. A new feature will also allow applicants to preview the final signed lease documents before they are registered, ensuring clarity and accuracy.

As part of the process, junior engineers and assistant town planners will upload and digitally sign site plans using the online platform. This step is expected to reduce delays and bring greater efficiency to the lease approval process.

To address long-pending issues, all deputy commissioners have been instructed to resolve cases involving ownership records, missing maps, and other documentation within seven days.
