SOG arrests NRI woman in blackmailing case, four lawyers debarred

Jaipur: The special operations group (SOG) on Thursday arrested a 25-year-old woman who was part of a blackmailing racket involved in extorting prominent people of the city after threatening to implement them in rape cases.
The racket busted last week extorted doctors and businessmen. The women members of the gang used to befriend the victims, took them to hotels and then threaten to implicate them in rape cases. Several lawyers and bogus journalists were members of this gang. Four lawyers were debarred by the Jaipur bar Association on Wednesday.
The woman, said to be a non-resident Indian (NRI), was arrested from a coaching institute in Kota. An SOG team raided the coaching center and detained the woman. She has been brought to Jaipur for further investigation. Sources said that the woman worked at the coaching institute.

“The woman was under our surveillance for the past one week. A video recording of the arrest was conducted to make the case foolproof in the court,” said a police officer.
On Wednesday, the bar Association cancelled the membership of four lawyers including Nitesh Bandhu, Akhilesh Mishra, Sandeep Gupta and the gang’s kingpin Naveen Devani.
The association’s president Subodh Sharma said that a meeting of executive committee members was help to discuss the issue of membership cancellation.
“The CBI should investigate the case so that the probe is unbiased and all the guilty can be brought to justice,” Sharma said.
High court bar association president Rajendra Sharma also condemned the incident. He also demanded a CBI probe in the matter.
