JAIPUR: The SMS Medical College administration has set up an anti-ragging committee and constituted anti-ragging teams to curb ragging activities with junior students at the start of the academic year. The senior students have also been sent on leave from Nov 15 to Nov 30 so that they don’t harass the junior students who just enrolled in the college.
The Principal and Controller of SMS College said that these anti-ragging teams include college faculty members, hostel wardens, assistant legal counsellors, psychologists, physical teachers, administrative officers, police, NGOs and media correspondents.
Also, a Grievance Redressal Committee has been constituted to curb ragging. The district and police administration has been requested to increase police patrolling on the campus and in the area near the college and hospital.
The Principal of SMS College told that if there is a complaint of ragging, then the student should give a call to toll-free number 1800-180-5522 of UGC or send an email to [email protected] and [email protected]. The college has also set up a toll-free number 1800-180-6020.
“Strict action will be taken against senior students found involved in ragging. The newly enrolled students have arrived. We have seen that the ragging activities take place at the start of the academic year, so the senior students have been sent on leave for 15 days,” said a college administration officer.
