JAIPUR: Jaipur is gearing up for the launch of the Phase-3 Metro work this September. This new expansion will see metro tracks spanning from Sitapura to Ambabadi.

Additional routes to be developed include Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar and Mansarovar to Ajmer Road, collectively covering a distance of 55.2 km. The project will see a total investment of Rs 5784 crore.

The announcement was made by CM Ashok Gehlot during a Housing Board event recently. As per his statement, the metro route from Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar, measuring 2.85 km, is set to be executed with an estimated budget of Rs 980 crore.

The tender for this segment is already finalized and the foundation stone is slated for a September ceremony. Another stretch of the metro, 1.35 km from Mansarovar to Ajmer Road, is also due to kick off in September, costing Rs 204 crores.

However, the primary chunk of the budget, Rs 4600 crore, is earmarked for the 23.51 km stretch from Sitapura to Ambabadi.

Under this new phase, 21 brand-new metro stations are planned along the Sitapura-Ambabadi route, covering several areas like India Gate, Kumbha Marg, Durgapura, SMS Hospital, and Ashok Marg, ending at Ambabadi.

The Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar metro route, covering a total of 2.85 km, will feature two stations: Ramganj and Transport Nagar.

This route will have both elevated and underground sections. Specifically, 0.59 km will be elevated while the remaining 2.26 km will be underground. Starting with an underground section from Badi Chaupar, it will ascend above ground post Anaj Mandi, culminating in an elevated Transport Nagar Metro Station.

The Mansarovar to Ajmer bypass route, which is 2 km long, will be entirely elevated. This includes the 1.35 km stretch from Mansarovar Metro Station to Ajmer Road.

For some context, the existing metro distance between Badi Chaupar and Mansarovar in Jaipur is 11.3 km. Currently, it takes the metro 26 minutes to cover this distance, translating to a 52-minute round trip. The metro’s development between these two points cost about Rs 3149 crore and has taken a decade and two months to complete. Presently, the metro operates from Mansarovar through several stations, eventually reaching Badi Chopar.
