Sikar constable commits suicide; FIR against SHO, 3 others

Jaipur: A constable of women police station in Sikar, identified as Laxmikant Nayak, committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of a room in his house on Sunday.
The constable was allegedly depressed over harassment by the SHO and some other cops in the police station. In a suicide note, he accused his colleagues of harassment. On the basis of the suicide note, the family members registered an FIR against SHO Pooja Punia, head constable Jhabarmal, constable Shiv Dayal and driver Mukesh.
After Laxmikant was found hanging, he was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
According to preliminary reports, he wrote a suicide note before hanging himself. He shared the suicide note with his family members.
A postmortem examination was conducted, but the family members refused to accept the body demanding action against the colleagues of the victim for harassment. They demonstrated outside SK Hospital in Sikar where the postmortem examination was conducted. Senior police officers rushed to the spot and tried to placate the protestors.
“The constable’s father has registered an FIR against four colleagues including the SHO. We are investigating the matter,” said a police officer.
