SHO Vishnu Dutt Bishnoi suicide case: CBI begins investigation

Jaipur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has begun a probe into the case pertaining to suicide by then SHO of Rajgarh police station in Churu district – Vishnu Dutt Bishnoi last month.

The Rajasthan government had recommended a CBI probe and after getting a green signal from the DoPT, the CBI registered an FIR in this regard. An agency team is likely to arrive in Rajgarh on Monday. Rooms have already been booked for team members at Churu Circuit House.

The local administration has provided necessary logistics support including a computer, printer, photocopy machine and landline phone. The CBI team will likely take statement of the senior district administration and police officers in the beginning. A local MLA and her husband will also be quizzed, sources said.

The brother of the victim had registered an FIR against some people for inciting Vishnudutt to commit suicide. As a WhatsApp chat between the SHO and his acquaintance went viral on social media, people started demonstrating alleging that the officer was stressed due to political pressure. Two suicide notes had been recovered, one addressed to the local SP and the other to his father.

The members of the Bishnoi community had met Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and demanded a CBI probe. Gehlot recommended the probe.
